THE DONUT STATION

This is an homage to Andrew Price's Blender donut tutorial series that countless artists, including myself, used to get acquainted with Blender. After a couple of years of using Blender, I decided to revisit the prompt in a fresh way. This thing is chock-full of little Blender and Donut details. I won't highlight them all, just a few of my favs. Check out the gallery below.

MY 'BREAKFAST PERIOD'

I went through a bit of a phase where I was fascinated by all things breakfast. It started with this realistic maple syrup bottle, and quickly branched out into a series a procedural experiments...

PROCEDURAL BACON

I built a rather complex material in Blender that uses a mixture of procedural textures to generate a bacon pattern. I did the raw bacon first, then I duplicated the node network and made a cooked version. Finally, I exposed the mix factor between the two node networks to create a slider so that I could keyframe between the two materials. Additionally, the procedural textures generate a new unique pattern when the object is duplicated. Works pretty well!

PROCEDURAL PANCAKES

The bacon worked so well, I wanted to try the same for pancakes. Turns out that works pretty well too!

PROCEDURAL PUMPKIN PIE

Then fall came along and I had pumpkin pie on my mind.

Then I had to do a Big Mac. Again, all texturing and most of the modeling was done using procedural methods.

VINTAGE MICROPHONE

This isn't procedural, I just really wanted to model one of these, so I sat down and knocked it out!

BATHROOM FOR A CHILDREN'S BOOK ILLUSTRATION

This is the opening set for a book that I am writing and illustrating. It's a fun book about potty training!
